Get Through Tough Times No Worries

Updated: Dec 2, 2021

Hi everyone :)

Are times ever tough? Yes, of course! Over the last few months I've talked to several people from Melbourne, Victoria, who have been "doing things tough". (There are some lockdown and isolation rules and a current "State of Emergency" in Victoria.) When times are tough, you can get through it and here in this video blog I explain three basic things to remember to help you get through those times when things either seem, or are, very hard.

The first one appears quite basic to any Christian: trust God. But trusting God can seem a bit "airy-fairy" or without much strength of purpose when practical steps are not put in place to help someone actually trust God.

Of course we must trust God! How?

Here's a beautiful bible verse from Psalm 20:7

"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:

but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."

(Authorized King James Version.)

Those big beautiful horses were mighty war steeds! They were valuable and those horses and chariots helped armies win great battles. But God is so much more important, valuable and trustworthy than a horse and a chariot. He is our Saviour!

Next is to use God's strength. We will crash and burn if we try to do things in our own strength. It may appear that you are so "together" and "in charge" and that "you got it" for a short time if you do things in your own strength. But that will not last. God is way, way stronger than you. He will get you through situations much better than you ever could. And any strength you had in the first place originally came from God anyway. So if you ignore him and his strength, yours will fade.

We need God and his strength. How do we get God's strength?

"Seek the Lord and his strength,

seek his face continually."

1 Chronicles 16:11

(Authorized King James Version.)

This verse says that we need to seek his strength and seek his face continually. By continually seeking God he will show us the right steps to take.

And finally we have in 1 Peter 5:6-7:

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (Authorized King James Version.)

So we have to cast our cares. That word care isn't "love" like it is sometimes used for today. It is worry. Cares are worries. Like the saying he hasn't a "care in the world" equals he hasn't a worry in the world.

As humans, God has created us so that he is our carer. He is the one and only who is supposed to care for us. We were never meant to have cares or worries. That is God's job! So we must give our cares to him. Cast them to him. Throw all your worries to God right now!

He is a good God and he can handle you and all your worries.

Lots of love,

from Ohroara :)
