What are the key aspects for romantic love? I believe that certain things are necessary for love. Some people may think they are in a "relationship" just because they do some physical things together. But sex doesn't create love. There is an intimacy that is beyond the physical that is needed.
Intimacy can be from sharing very big things to everyday little things—like what the person
wants for breakfast or their grandest dreams they want fulfilled. But sharing dreams and likes doesn't mean much if their isn't friendship. Friendship may seem obvious but there are married people I've talked to that have basically said that they can not rely on their partner for friendship as they do not treat them as a treasured friend. A friend can be relied upon. A friend will treasure you.
And finally safety is necessary for romantic love. If you are unsafe with that person then all of your feelings of love are unreal. A person must be safe with the person that they are in love with. They must be safe in terms of physical safety but also emotional safety as well.
All of these things are necessary for love to exist in a romance of the heart. I hope you can find the intimacy, friendship, and safety that God desires for you to know.
